COVID SAFETY PROTOCOL
Here’s how you can help:
Wear a mask during check-in, shuttle bus ride, and at all times inside the Church Fork base station except while eating and drinking. (Buff’s, bandanas, Do-Rags and scarves are NOT considered masks). We will have approved masks available if you need one. And remember, a smile under a mask is still a smile! Be kind…
Hand sanitizer available and we ask you take a squirt if not wearing your gloves.
There will be drink dispensers with hot/cold water and Gnarley nutrition sports drink at various locations. For those not comfortable touching the dispenser nozzles to fill their own bottles/flasks/bladders we will also have volunteers offering hands free pitcher pours. This will include Coke/Mountain Dew/Ginger-ale/Gnarley Sports Drink/ Sweet Tea and water. Simply have your bottle/flasks/bladders out, lids off and hold while volunteer pours. RUFA IS A CUPLESS EVENT. Bring your own cup if you are a sipper. Cups available for hot drinks only.
Energy fuel , snacks/cookies/fruit to be served in single servings – just grab one.
Soups, broths, coffee, hot tea, cocoa to be served in compostable cups, spoons and bowls. Please recycle in the bins provided.
Solid hot and cold food will be handed to you via tongs and served on a paper towel.
The Church Fork base station will on occasion be fairly crowded. Crews, friend’s family and dogs will not be permitted inside the tent. We ask that you wear your mask (except while eating and drinking) and not to congregate. We will be optimizing air flow and removing the tent walls as the weather permits.
EVENT TIMING
Results from the three categories will be sorted first by number of laps and secondarily by total elapsed time. Only full laps (to the summit and back) will be counted.
Live timing will exist in 2022 via OpenSplitTime.org. See the home page for the link, which will be live on the day of the race.
Cutoff Time
The cutoff time is leaving Church Fork Aid Station for a final lap at 4:30PM Saturday. One caveat exits to accomodate incredible fast runners. If such a runner comes in after the cut-off and they want to head out for a final lap, if their most recent lap was faster than the time remaining (before 6PM) they will be permitted to try for one more lap.
All runners need to notify the Aid Station captain upon finishing their final lap in the allotted time. If a runners chooses to stop early, they also need to let the aid station captain that they are done. From this point they are on their own and may choose to hang around the aid station to cheer on other runners or take the next shuttle back to their car.
AID STATIONS
Home Base
We will have a well-equipped, and fun aid station in the Church Fork picnic area, roughly 300′ up from the picnic entry gate. Food, water, music, encouragement, is what you’ll find here. You are strongly encouraged to bring all necessary gear to support you throughout the event to this aid-station where it will be stored in a covered tent and accessed as you require it. Food and drinks are intended to support race participants only.
